Follow these simple steps to access and select your seats for a smooth booking experience on TrainSplit. Whether you're planning a quick commute or a leisurely journey, managing your seat preferences is easy with our intuitive platform.
Note: some operators do not offer seat reservations on their services. If all the operators on your journey do not offer seat reservations, you will not be presented with the option to reserve seats when reviewing your ticket details, or change seats at the point of checkout.
1. Visit the TrainSplit Website
- Open your preferred web browser.
- Navigate to the TrainSplit website by searching for the TrainSplit website and choosing the appropriate option.
2. Search for Your Journey
- On the homepage, enter your departure and arrival stations in the "From" and "To" fields.
- Select your travel dates and times.
- Click the "Find Tickets" button to find available trains for your journey.
3. Select Your Train
- Browse through the list of available trains and tickets choose the one that best fits your schedule.
- Review the ticket options available for your selected train.
- Choose the ticket type that suits your needs (e.g., Standard, First Class).
- Click on the "Continue" button to continue.
4. Review Your Ticket Options
- On this page, you will see your ticket information, plusbus options, as well as your reservation preferences.

Enter your preferences here, such as seat type (window, aisle) and coach preferences. Alternatively, you can also pick the option to use the Seat Selector here, and we'll automatically open it for you when you continue to the basket.
- Click "Continue" to proceed to the next screen.
6. Review Journey Details and Seat Reservation
- Click on the chair icon to view your seat reservation.
- Click on the pencil icon to access the seat selector.
7. Make Adjustments (if needed)
- A seating layout of the train will be displayed. The blue seat represents your current reservation.
- Click on available green seats to select your preferred seating. Grey seats are already occupied.
- Confirm your seat selection by clicking "Confirm Selection".
Note: If an error occurs, please select an available seat. If you inform us of your seating preferences after booking, we will endeavour to accommodate them (where possible) for you.
We have noted instances where seats appear available for selection, but attempts to reserve them fail. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are actively working to resolve this issue.
8. Complete Your Booking
- Continue to payment by clicking the "Proceed" button.
- Enter your payment details and complete the purchase.
9. Confirmation
- Once your payment is processed, you will receive a booking confirmation email that includes your journey details, seat number, and ticket information (whether it's Ticket on Departure or E-Tickets).
